IN VITRO EVALUATION OF ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF SELECTED MALAYSIAN PLANTS AGAINST THE WILT PATHOGEN OF BANANA, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense TROPICAL RACE 4

چکیده
Fusarium wilt of banana is one the most serious diseases affecting plantations worldwide. In this study, inhibitory activities four essential oils (clove, cinnamon, lesser alpinia and eucalyptus) five hydrosols (kaffir lime, eucalyptus, bitter ginger, fig tea tree) on in vitro growth causal agent disease, oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (TR4), were investigated. Results showed that some these plant extracts inhibited mycelial TR4 a dose-dependent manner. Clove oil tree hydrosol effective suppressing with percentage inhibition radial (PIRG) recorded at 46% 69%, respectively, while kaffir lime moderate PIRG 33% 64%, respectively. These results suggest compounds have potential to be used future greenhouse studies as single treatment or combination previously established biological control agents against banana.

متن کاملGenome and Transcriptome Analysis of the Fungal Pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Causing Banana Vascular Wilt Disease
BACKGROUND The asexual fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc) causing vascular wilt disease is one of the most devastating pathogens of banana (Musa spp.). To understand the molecular underpinning of pathogenicity in Foc, the genomes and transcriptomes of two Foc isolates were sequenced. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Genome analysis revealed that the genome structures of race 1 and r...
متن کاملThe distribution and host range of the banana Fusarium wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense, in Asia
Fusarium oxysporum formae specialis cubense (Foc) is a soil-borne fungus that causes Fusarium wilt, which is considered to be the most destructive disease of bananas. The fungus is believed to have evolved with its host in the Indo-Malayan region, and from there it was spread to other banana-growing areas with infected planting material. The diversity and distribution of Foc in Asia was investi...
متن کاملAntifungal activity of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens NJN-6 volatile compounds against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense.
Bacillus amyloliquefaciens NJN-6 produces volatile compounds (VOCs) that inhibit the growth and spore germination of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense. Among the total of 36 volatile compounds detected, 11 compounds completely inhibited fungal growth. The antifungal activity of these compounds suggested that VOCs can play important roles over short and long distances in the suppression of Fusar...
